Reading this, I was able to relate to Amy Tan, in the way that she wanted to "Distance herself from her ethnicity" I have the same feeling at times, it's harder to be succcessful with the different negative steryotypes people place on my ethnicity. In the continuation of my reading.Ms. Tan and I had another comparison, the different    ways in which we speak to different people Being a bi racial person i speak  a different language when conversing with my hispanic family, and when talking to my black family its as if a whole new person comes from within; I never noticed I would do this until I read this piece and recorded myself speaking with both families.

for my personal narrative i've choosen the topic of money and if children now abuse or if they have lost the understanding and importance of money in which their parents have worked so hard to earn. I had a brief conversation with my aunt and she was telling me how money was tight and they didnt always have the nicer things in comparison to us money is still very tight but parents still give their children the best even when the are struggling to pay the bills. My generation in my opinion are a bunch of spoiled children that are selfish at times, by not understanding the importance of money.

In this reading it allowed me to be appreciative about the life I live and that my parents didnt have to go through the drama and trama in which the father and son would wake up, im also very blessed to have parents that show me care and love eventhough their parents weren't always around; such as the father and his son. Eventhough at times im sure it gets difficult.
